Today started off as a yucky, mucky day with relentlessly strong showers and even stronger winds. After Mommy and Daddy were out late with Tia and Doug, at least it didn’t start off with a hangover.

Mommy and I were off early like a herd of turtles to Pro Nails for our long overdue mani/pedi’s. Wai was not in da house, so I was looked after by no less than three different gals. Flowers on my big toes were the defining accent of my pedi.

Early in the afternoon we headed to the beautiful home of the Andersons’s (Jeff, Jessica, Brenna and A.J.) in Issaquah for a serious Easter brunch in the company of Nana, Papa, Mickey and Bonnie Kosko, Jess’s sister Jenny and husband Justin, Jeff’s sister Jody and husband Kelly with kids Quinn, Perry, and Bentley.

A food spread bigger and more comprehensive than a Salty’s brunch was on display and ready for the taking. Highlights were the egg dish and all of the yummy pastries Mommy brought from Macrina Bakery.

Not too long after the egg hunt, we saddled up and headed home ‘cuz Daddy needed to gear up for a photo shoot at Seattle’s Studio X and I was running on fumes after two big, napless days.

Spring?!

Yuck. The ride to the Anderson’s

The Woodland Park Zoo held their annual Bunny Bounce today and the Beelman 3 were in attendance. Joining us for the shenanigans were the Smiths: Tia, Doug, Campbell and Carter.

Daddy and Doug went off with baby Carter in the under three area for him to make his big score while Campbell and I were let loose for some serious egg hunting.

Well, there was much hunt involved as the eggs were simply laid out on the enormous grassy area by the North entrance and where the Zoo Tunes concerts are held. Free-for-all was more like it.

We capped our time off there with an enjoyable carousel ride before bidding the Smiths farewell and heading to Sponge for Spanish. Mommy and Daddy dropped me off, headed directly to the nearest taco truck and got their chow on.

Later in the evening Silver and I made homemade pizza while Mommy and Daddy whooped it up with Tia and Doug at the Dahlia Lounge for cocktails and Assagio for dinner.

Big Bunny day today… Even bigger tomorrow!

The other day ELDC issued a notice that they’d like updated pictures of all the families to display on the Family Tree wall in the entrance of the school. Daddy was feeling a bit cheeky, so he did our new one modeled after a look Queen made popular during their Bohemian Rhapsody video and later recreated during the height of Wayne’s World fever.

This afternoon while Mommy was doing the Big Climb for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the Columbia Center, Daddy and I saddled up the bike and the trailer to head to the Sunset Hill Community Club to take in Thistle Theatre’s production of Hanako and the Cherry Tree.

Also in attendance were pals Owen Moriarty and Campbell Smith with their respective adult representatives, or Lynn Burgess, Joe Moriarty and Cybil Burgess in addition to Mrs. Tia Smith.

Mr.Yama, a wealthy miser, discovers young Hanako in a cherry tree trying to pick cherries. He tells her the tree is his and is unwilling to share any of the tree’s bounty. Mr. Yama accidentally swallows a cherry pit and lo and behold, a tree grows out of his head! A bizarre series of events follow including an encounter with mythical Japanese creatures, a Tengu, an Oni and a serpent! Humor, danger and excitement fill this tall tale told with Bunraku, shadow and blacklight puppets.

While good, the afternoon’s highlight was heading to the Scoop at Walter’s for mango sorbet in a waffle cone in the company of my pal Campbell. She and I went to work on our cones while Tia and Daddy chatted it up.

Eventually Mommy arrived home from her climb and we had a pretty casual Sunday afternoon/evening. Kudos to Mommy for being Team Leader on completing the climb in only 20 minutes. Mommy is built Ford-tough and now you know why Daddy is an ass man!

Today after Spanish the Beezecchi Three headed to West Seattle for a rendez-vous with the Heron crew.  Daddy stayed back with the Korean Rocket, a cigar, some spirits and Mr. Brett Heron to take in the indecisive spring weather and get caught up after not having a hang for a looong time.  Meanwhile Mommy, Anne-Marie, Alice and I headed to the lighthouse down on Alki for some beach combing fun.

Collecting all of those shells builds up one’s appetite so we headed to the Celtic Swell to get our St. Practice Day session kicked into gear, get libated and score some food that is not part of the Biggest Loser’s recipe for success.  Daddy dropped off Brett with us and headed into town to do a photo shoot, but sadly, he wasn’t missed as the Bushmill’s flowed freely and the food so good that even the napkins were deep fried.

This morning I woke up and put on a crisp Spring dress for a play date at Campbell’s while Daddy headed into work for a couple of hours to bang out a jingle package. Dougie was flying solo as Tia was in St. Louis to help her dad and step-mom pick up the pieces after his 150 year old house burned to a total loss in a fire that is blamed on the dishwasher.

The house was classified as a historic landmark, is the place where both Tia’s grandfather and great-grandfather spent their last days, and contained workmanship and family heirlooms that can never be replaced.  While reeling from the loss, those touched by the fire feel like they were being looked after as it is a miracle they Tenny and Hoppy weren’t home at the time.

In spite of the heaviness around the Smith family, Doug took great care of us and I had an awesome time playing dress-up with Campbell. Carter is growing so fast too… He can almost keep up with us big girls!

Once Mommy finally got back from her trip with Nana to the Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal, the Beelzecchi Three headed to the Hi-Life for some comfort food and wood-fired yumminess. Gawd, I love that place. And the word is that Mommy loved the Alderbrook and has already booked us in for a family trip in the near future!

Recently my Spanish class at Sponge School has changed up a bit… Instead of going to the 10:30am class with a bunch of wee ones, I’m now being dropped off for an hour and a half and holding my own with 5 year olds while Mommy and Daddy run errands, visit friends, go jogging or something else to maximize their productivity while I’m fully immersed in class.

Today Daddy went and visited an old recording client named Anyu at his home in Leschi for example. Anyu, owner of Elliott Bay Hardwood Floors and a trance musician taking a nod from Peter Gabriel, has recently returned from a trip to India where he was shooting a video for a song from his new album. Daddy came back jazzed from his meeting before we were off to the next thing.

Since Mommy was out of town with Nana on Hood Canal at the Alderbrook Resort as a treat for her birthday waaaaaay back in January, Daddy and I were free to do the things that we like to do. Afterwards we geared up the Surly and the Burley for a ride up to the Phinney Ridge neighborhood where I got a haircut at Beachcomber Kids Cuts. Our hope was to blast down to the Woodland Park Zoo for a ride on the carousel, but they were closed by the time I was done getting the business from my stylist Raye.

Instead we headed across the street to Mae’s Phinney Ridge Cafe and had some mango sorbet from Snoqualmie Gourmet. ‘Twas yummy as always and fun sitting in the cow mouth booth. Daddy and I cycled home and had a fun evening playing games, making dinner and watching movies before taking a bath and hitting the hay.

We’re at it again with the 365 business. There are some great ones in here and quite a few that were grabbed in less than inspiring conditions. Oh well… Daddy can’t be a genius everyday.

This weekend Mommy, Daddy and I joined Papa Jack and Nana for a trip to visit the new vacation home of the Trautwein’s: Auntie Sue, Uncle Tom and my cousin Jordan.

The home is located high atop a hill in the Port Angeles area of the Olympic Peninsula and looks across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Victoria, BC. At only four years old, the house is laden with great amenities and modern design flourishes while still maintaining a cabin-like feel.

They have plans to relocate the existing detached garage to make way for a new guest quarters that will no doubt be filled up with Tom and Sue’s children and grandchildren many times over the coming years.

Jordan and I had a great time playing together and I know Daddy thinks it’s pretty cool to see the genesis of the “Little House in the Woods” era.  The Beelzecchi 3 all look forward to spending more time there.
